Laying It Down owners Robb and Krissy Merritt moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in November 2000. They moved from Phoenix, Arizona shortly after being married. Robb worked in the tile industry in Arizona and became his company’s lead installer. He established Laying It Down in Charlotte in July 2001. With Robb’s extensive background in design and attention for detail, the company grew from tile installation services to a full kitchen and bathroom remodeling company. Laying It Down is a licensed General Contractor in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Robb and Krissy work together with their team with an overall goal of excellence and integrity. Robb has completed the Certified Tile Education Foundation’s certificate program and has been awarded the certification as a certified tile installer. View our certification. The Certified Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) administers the only ceramic tile installer certification program that comprehensively evaluates hands-on skills, and is a standards-based and recognized nationally.
